Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched Bharat Taxi and the Chief Minister Krishak Samriddhi Scheme, announcing measures aimed at supporting drivers and small and marginal farmers.
Under Bharat Taxi, taxi, two-wheeler and three-wheeler drivers can join the cooperative mobility platform on a zero-commission model. The initiative also provides social security cover of up to ₹5 lakh, according to the government. Services have begun in Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Kanpur and Prayagraj, with agreements signed with institutions including Lucknow Airport, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation and traffic authorities.
The Chief Minister said the platform could create new employment opportunities by enabling drivers to retain more of their earnings. He also highlighted the successful use of bike-based mobility services during the 2025 Prayagraj Mahakumbh.
Under the Krishak Samriddhi Scheme, the interest rate on loans provided to farmers through the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Gram Vikas Bank has been reduced from 11% to 6%. The government aims to benefit five lakh small and marginal farmers through long-term credit for agriculture and farm machinery.
Adityanath also highlighted government measures in irrigation, sugarcane payments, cooperative banking and agricultural infrastructure. He said more than 86 lakh small and marginal farmers had received loan waivers totalling over ₹36,000 crore since 2017.
At the launch event, beneficiaries received loan sanction letters, while five Bharat Taxi drivers were presented with share certificates. Union Minister of State for Cooperation and Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and senior state officials attended the programme.
